Spirit Nation Singers is a second-generation family drum group from Kitchener, made up of members from different Nations who were brought together through the teachings of the Grandfather Drum. With guidance from uncles, we continue learning, singing, and growing together while honouring the teachings that have been shared with us along the way.
Aki Ogichidaa Kwewak N’Gamowak is a young women’s hand drum group from Kitchener, with connections reaching across Ontario. We were raised around the drum alongside our uncles, aunties, and families, growing up with songs that became part of who we are. Today, we carry those songs with love, honouring the teachings that come with them while sharing them with the next generation.
Together, Spirit Nation Singers and Aki Ogichidaa Kwewak N’Gamowak are more than just drum groups, we are family. Through song, laughter, teachings, and community, we come together to share a piece of ourselves every time we sing. Our hope is that the songs we carry today will continue to bring people together and be carried on for future generations.
